A Warm Welcome from Kaka Liz – Founder of Sten Lodge

Sten Lodge was founded in 2018 as a lifestyle choice—rooted in simplicity and connection to nature. When I arrived in early 2017, there was no electricity or water—just the river, the forest, and the sound of the wind. I bathed in the river and walked barefoot under the trees. That peaceful rhythm became the heart of everything here. It brought me deep joy, and I wanted to share it. That’s how Sten Lodge was born.

The bamboo huts you are staying in were built in late 2017, and by April 2018, we welcomed our first guests—just as water was connected.

At first, we had a tiny kitchen, but still served breakfast and dinner with love. In 2020, Dapur Tara was born. A year later, we built a bigger kitchen and dining space. Now, we welcome both overnight guests and day visitors for meals.

The bamboo huts have also grown—new alang-alang roofs, bigger terraces, new floors, and comfy beds replaced the simple mats we started with.

Since 2025, all rooms and terraces have lighting and charging outlets. We’ve added Wi-Fi and warm showers, so you can enjoy the beauty of nature—comfortably.
