What we’re about
We are big fans of sharing the Flores traditional way of living. Additionaly, we want to give people an opportunity to taste the traditional Flores food. We also want want to offer traditional accommodation and food at wallet-friendly prices.
Our story
Liz and Lars started Sten Lodge in 2018. First it was a place for them to live in the traditional Flores way. Every morning a trip to the river for a morning bath. The food came from the organic gardens. This was a wonderful experience. This experience they wanted to share with others.

Liz is from Maumere, Flores in Indonesia. She has a bachelor degree in International Tourism and Hospitality Management. Adding to that, she has studied midwifery at University in Indonesia. Liz is an experienced school teacher. She also teaches traditional Indonesian dances. Her passion is to combine what she learnt in school with what mother nature offers.
Lars is from Sweden. He has for 30 years practised yoga and meditation. During 15 years he teached yoga and meditation in yoga schools and on retreats. Lars also organized yoga retreats in Sweden and abroad during ten years. He is a certified Ayurvedic Life Style Consultant. Lars passion is to give people tools to manage their busy lives.

Indonesian Ministry of Tourism had a program for developing restaurants in Labuan Bajo. Dapur Tara Flores was one of the participants.
Sten Lodge eco Homestay and Dapur Tara Flores have received the Indonesian certification of CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment). Certificate is available on the Indonesia Care website
