You will find many places to visit near Sten Lodge eco Homestay. Beautiful waterfalls, caves and much more. Most of them are not so easy to access. A scooter is very good to get to the point where you have to start hiking until you reach the waterfall or cave.
Komodo National Park
Komodo National Park includes three major islands: Komodo, Rinca and Padar, and is a UNESCO world heritage site The most remarkable inhabitant of Komodo National Park is the Komodo Lizard, Varanus komodoensis. These giant lizards are most commonly known as the “Komodo Dragons”.
Sten Lodge eco Homestay is a good starting point if you want to visit the park. Stay here for a few days to wind down after your travel and we will help you organize a tour to the island. (It’s always better price booking your Komodo tour when you are on Flores)

Diving in Komodo National Park
Indonesia is probably one of the best countries in the world for diving and Komodo National Park is one of the dive highlights. The amount and variety of fish is unreal, millions of reef fish of all shapes, colours and sizes.
There are plenty of dive centers in Labuan Bajo so its very easy to find a dive tour. You can dive just for the day or for several days. Many of the centers have diving courses for beginners.
Sten Lodge eco Homestay is located near Labuan Bajo so after a few days of diving you are welcome to wind down in our peaceful atmosphere, or start your diving journey here and store your luggage while you are on the diving tour.
Cunca Rami waterfall
Located 25 km from Sten Lodge eco Homestay. This is our favourite waterfall. The first 20 km is fine with scooter or car. Then a 5 km hike to the waterfall. Very quiet and peaceful, without to many tourists.

Cunca Wulang waterfall
Located 15 km from Sten Lodge eco Homestay. Cunca Wulang is the most well known waterfall in the region. It’s worth a visit but it is not our first choice.

Hobbit cave (Liang Bua)
Liang Bua is known as the place where the extinct human relative Homo floresiensis was first discovered. The Hobbit cave is located north of of Ruteng, 120 km from Sten Lodge eco Homestay.

Wae Rebo
Wae Rebo traditional village is located 130 km from Sten Lodge eco Homestay. After arriving to the departure point for trekking, you have a 3-4 hours hike up to the village located 1.100 m above sea level. Google Maps & More info
Sano Nggoang crater lake
Sano Nggoang Crater Lake has an area of about 5.500 ha. The lake is one of the deepest in the world, around 600 meters. Sano Nggoang is located 30 km from Sten Lodge eco Homestay. Google Maps
Liang Kantor cave/waterfall
Liang Kantor is located in Melo very close to Sten Lodge eco Homestay. It’s a perfect day tour and an easy walk to get there. You need a local guide and report to the village office before you take off. More info
Liang Niki (Bat cave)
The Bat cave is located close to Sten Lodge eco Homestay. The cave has three rooms, two are 2 meters wide and 30 meters long. Liang Niki is located about 500 meters from the main road.
Spider web Rice fields
Centuries ago, the cultivated land in Manggarai was shared by the entire village. The fields were circular, and at the center, ceremonial rituals were held around the harvest. The closest spider rice field is 85 km from Sten Lodge eco Homestay
